Ash Moth
I like to draw monsters and tell stories. If I can pick up a pen and make something uncanny out of a blob of ink on a page, I think I will have done my job well. Most of my work is scratchy and detailed, taking inspiration from manga artwork and fantasy book illustrations, while also trying to retain a slightly comedic or lighthearted tone in the cartoonish design of the characters, even when they have features that would be scary in any other context. Most of my works tend to be done in pen and ink, influenced by the works of Junji Ito and Kentaro Miura. The stories in my environments are inspired by the nature I explore on the road trips and camping trips I take in British Columbia, from the mountains, forests, small towns, and beaches along the coast, but with a more fantastical context. There likely will not be any work by me that is not filled with anxious imagery, or without a distinct quirk to each of my characters.
