AJ (Amanda) Colum (she/they) is a retired horse girl. Raised in the Rocky view AB’s Delacour area. They spend a total of a three quarters of their waking time doing something art related. Weather that be doodling dinosaurs, digitally painting horses or writing lines for a theoretical puppet musical. She is a third year print major at this moment in time. And her more serious practice is based on psychoanalytic s of sub-conscience and nostalgia. Along with a dash of aesthetic hedonism, Surrealism and symbolism. But it’s mostly just doodling for doodling’s shake.
A mixed media artist that has a focus in traditional print and digital media. Using mostly fauna for subject matter. With dinosaurs, horses (and unicorns) , dogs, frogs and possums being the main recurring characters. Works are made up of either thick black and white line-art or bold cartoony illustrations of high saturation. Aj’s work is a comedic and playful. They try to have their designs and art as diverse as the people of the modern world. Her design are for all ages from six to a hundred and six.
