I am a fiber-based artist, who also enjoys painting with acrylic my techniques are inspired by costume makers. When I paint my signature pieces on plywood I use a special thermal plastic called Worbla. Worbla is often used by cosplayers to create props and costume pieces. I also enjoy adding sewn inclusions to my canvas works like in the two pieces called "Internal Ableism" and "Fiber Life's Blood." Molding paste is a medium I enjoy using acrylic, and I like creating tactile texture with the medium as I did in "Vineyard." I use art as a vehicle for awareness; to share historical moments, inform the viewer of our impact on the oceans, and change people's social perceptions of people living with chronic illness. My life experiences have taught me the importance of using art as a therapeutic outlet, especially during a time like Covid19; being stuck inside has allowed me to delve into my creativity and explore different mediums. For me, art is both a form of expression and activism.
