Art is a tool for individual expression, a window through which others can glimpse into an artist’s mind. Through their acrylic paintings and digital illustrations, Rowan conveys their thoughts and emotions. Some of their artworks focus on mundane but underappreciated aspects of life, whereas others reflect on complex experiences and feelings. They use layers in both their paintings and digital work to create depth. Moreover, they love to use bold and vibrant colours in juxtaposition with each other, playing with what the eye finds appealing versus what it finds jarring. The artist also incorporates fantastical and mythological elements into their art to encapsulate bits of humanity beyond what exists in the limitations of reality. They are inspired by the idea that they will be long forgotten one day, outlived by the artwork they made in life and left behind. They aim to depict parts of themself in the pieces they create and hope that other people resonate with them.
