As an artist my work aims to reflect my perception of the natural world, specifically focusing in and around southern Alberta. I have always had a great appreciation for the outdoors and the ecosystems within. Through my work as a photographer, I hope to share that same passion with others, invoking the preservation of the fragile ecosystems we have left. With each shot I pursue; I spend majority of my time observing one particular location. Taking time to learn about the environment I am in allows me to break down visual elements within a scene, to better determine a visually compelling composition. Through observation, I can learn about my subjects and the environment that they inhabit, enabling me to further my understanding of these ecosystems. The further I study and engage with my subjects, which allows for a greater connection to the environment and wildlife that occupy the area, helping to develop a meaningful piece of work.
