I am interested in how images can transfer across surfaces and different mediums to create a different means of communication. My work looks at utilitarian objects found in the home to communicate ideas around the mundane, the everyday, and memory. The objects that I make, such as vases, ashtrays, and tablecloths, are everyday mundane things. They are objects that occupy our lives and hold a residence whether we are aware or not. These objects hold meaning and with the noticing and the appreciation of the mundane, we become aware of these small things that make up our lives and contribute to our world building. I am interested in how the noticing of the mundane creates meaning and a sense of agency in one's life. It allows us to be present and aware of these material things and even the materiality of our bodies. In relation to this idea, memory and space take hold as these objects also act as signifiers of our lives and certain places and space that we used to take up and occupy. My work functions as an embrace of the mundane, of the small insignificant things, and of the materiality of our being. I look at and observe the mundane things in my life that are a big part of my world building and use them as inspiration. I am inspired by domestic settings, house plants and local botanicals.
