Emma Varden

Emma Varden is a jewellery artist and metalsmith from Toronto currently completing her third year at the Alberta University of the Arts, aiming toward her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jewellery + Metals and Object Design & Fabrication Minor. With a passion for design, she mainly works to combine her knowledge of 3D rendering and manufacturing processes to cast wearable metalworks. Textiles and knitting processes often inspire her compositions. Taking from the basics of weaving and winding together simple lines, she finds order and luminance in creating something more significant. Outside of the technical end of things, Emma enjoys elevating nature to create everyday pieces that inspire the world around us. Casting natural objects provides a diverse space that relieves the tendencies of a digital workspace. Finding the ebb and flow of these two styles, she finds a nice contrast to the two throughout her works for this spring collection.
