My artistic practice is directed towards how individual choices, anxiety and risk tolerance affect the way in which people interact within society. Whether it is a question of faith, political views, sexual orientation, or privacy; the narrative of understanding and empathy is paramount for my work. In attempting to inspire self-reflection in the viewer’s and participants, I want to use my sculptural work / instillations to direct attention to everyone’s similarities with the intent to increase connections between people. Through my own experiences, I have found that individuals are willing to act in a negative or riskier manner when they are lacking information and understanding. By using my art practice to inform and direct, I am developing narratives that can help us all appreciate, empathize, and accept the uniqueness and choices that are present within each and every one of us.
