A slippery, wet street reflects the colours of a calm and rainy night in the city. These streets are normally filled to the brim with stores and people, but now they offer a place to breathe and reflect. The scene depicted in this piece was inspired by late night walks I’d take down 17th ave in Calgary after spending time with friends. The peaceful journey to the bus stop, especially on rainy nights, always felt like the perfect way to end a good night. I had a lot of fun using various colours and washes in this piece to create an illusion of a wet road reflecting the night lights. Original piece made in 2020 using coloured inks on toned tan sketch paper.
