Hello! My name is Renata Rahmer, and I am a Calgary based artist who has been studying Illustration at AUArts. Some of the things that we take for granted in life still hold emotional value for us. My work explores the idea of the emotions that we ascribe to mundane objects and places. I enjoy working with traditional methods that take time, most especially screen printing in my home studio. The act of pulling a squeegee loaded with ink across a screen is incomparable, and I want the joy that I find in printing to come across in my work. I am always trying to push the limitations of the medium, and the majority of my prints are comprised of many layers and colours. I love working with halftones and patterns that nod to the nostalgia in my subject matter.
