Sage Deems

Sage uses a wide range of painting and print materials with experimental techniques to create fun, eclectic images investigating and observing objects and people using expressive colours and decorative linework to create aesthetic images. Sage takes inspiration from bright, maximalist style and design to create happy, bright images. Using a mix of abstract and illustrative depictions, they convey a specific mood and environment in each work.  

In their fourth year practice, Sage explores their own relationship with their body through illustrative depictions in cotton candy colour palettes of bodies in various poses cut out of canvas. Investigating the way that others affect and influence their own perception of their body, they depict their own intersecting identities through the form of their body and a wide range of materials to further analyze their own experiences and reflect on them.
