"Gay Bomb"OrangeRegular price $750.00
Phillip Murray Bandura MFA Candidate
Reality can be stranger than fiction. The "Gay Bombs" inspiration is a non-lethal version of chemical warfare once investigated by a US Air Force research lab. The plan was to disrupt enemy forces by discharging female sex pheromones - making soldiers sexually attracted to each other. The military research for the gay bombs was performed in 1994. Phillip's Gay Bombs "Silver Collector's Edition" were created to sprinkle love and no violence.
The Gay Bombs were created from blown and solid sculpted Glass; the works are the product of Phillip's fictitious Freedom Co., where he quips, bombing could be done a better way.
Phillip is a graduate (2005) of the Alberta College Design glass program (Calgary) and a Bee Kingdom glass collective co-founder, running from 2005 until 2020. Phillip has had many successes as an artist, such as Avenues Top 40 under 40 in 2010, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award, showing his work locally, Nationally and Internationally in Berlin, Greece, Turkey, and the USA. Many prominent collectors have collected the Bee Kingdom and Phillip's artwork, such as Elton John and the Aga Khan. Now Phillip is back at the Alberta University of the Arts as a candidate for his Master's in craft, focusing on Glass.
