Paddling Fenland

Waiting for the ice to break up and the waterways to clear, this work is part dreaming of spring and part remembering previous trips up the Bow River, and trips through Echo creek, past the Fenland trail and through to Vermillion lakes. Over beaver damns, and past muskrats. On the river is where I feel most at home; where you can glide past an elk heard, or see a curious bear standing to try and figure out what you are, or paddle below eagles making their nests, or just drift through the changing seasons. On the river there is a quiet and a community.
