Patchwork Place
ELI-FI-27
Regular price $340.00Part of a series of pieces which explore place through personal mapping, this work is an examination of my connection and accountability to this land. Stitching recovered birch bark together (bark that has been collected from fallen trees rather than from live ones) this series examines the tensions that can come with connecting to the land through the inherent tensions in the bark itself. Incorporating pieces of bark that have lichen and sap pockets this piece is a record of multiple forms of life and the balance that we all must live in together. Like the bark that pulls and resists itself, there is a balance that is both stable and fragile.
Recovered birch bark and waxed thread, framed in a 10” x 10” shadow box with glass.
