The Scarab Mug features a decal of a gold rhinoceros beetle, paying homage to the important role of scarabs in ancient Egypt, where they were symbols of rebirth and regeneration.
The beetle is only visible in certain lighting conditions, adding an air of mystery and intrigue to the cup's design. The glaze varies greatly on the outside, ranging from opaque black to translucent amber, gunmetal grey, and dripping navy blue. Horizontal lines along the exterior of the cup add to the design's sense of movement and transformation, echoing the symbolism of the scarab.
Fired in a soda kiln, this cup is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. 3.5" tall, holds 10f.oz. (1.3 cups). IG: @viviansmith.art
