Abi Osness 

As an illustrator, Abi is constantly taking in the world around them as inspiration. Abi’s work often contains aspects of nature—especially bugs. As someone who prefers to spend their time outdoors more often than not (though perhaps not as applicable in the colder months) Abi constantly collects inspiration during their various outdoor recreational activities–most of which occur in the mountains, or more locally, Nose Hill. They have always had a keen eye for the small things: aspects that typically would go unnoticed. They are always thrilled with the discovery of bugs, and they enjoy incorporating their images into their art. Working both traditionally and digitally, they create whimsical illustrations with limited colour palettes–which is their favourite aspect of planning out a piece. Their featured paintings are completed through acrylic gouache, a medium they are particularly fond of. Abi enjoys producing pieces both large and small, ranging anywhere from stickers to murals. Continuing to explore, Abi is always looking for diverse ways to challenge themself with their art and enjoys doing it in the process.
