Abi Osness
Abi’s work often contains aspects of nature—especially bugs. As someone who prefers to spend their time outdoors often (although, perhaps not as applicable in the colder months) Abi constantly collects inspiration during their various outdoor recreational activities–most of which occur in the mountains, or more locally, Nose Hill. They have always had a keen eye for the small things: aspects that typically would go unnoticed. They are always thrilled with the discovery of bugs, and they enjoy incorporating their images into their art. Working both traditionally and digitally, they create whimsical illustrations with limited colour palettes–which is their favourite aspect of planning out a piece. Their traditional work typically takes the form of acrylic gouache paintings on birch panels. Abi enjoys producing pieces both large and small, ranging anywhere from stickers to murals. Currently in their third year, Abi is working towards a degree in illustration at the Alberta University of the Arts.
