Absorbing the strange for such a long time means that Cole’s work rarely has a logic behind it. He loves to create fantasy worlds that focus on weird characters with a cute/horror aesthetic to them, working most often in pen and ink. He can often be found working on virtually anything cartoon or comic related, including animation, storyboarding, and character design, because he can never be satisfied doing just one thing for very long. The cartoons, comics and manga he has consumed throughout his life have had a significant influence on not just the aesthetic of his art, but on how he wants to tell a story. He still has a huge stash of picture books in his basement that have been on his mind for the longest time. Whether he’s using his own material or working with someone else, he strives to tell a story that others can love.
