The method of creative expression that best supports the artist is thorough. He is detailed in his traditional sketching by layering monochromatic textures until they form a type of skin on the paper. His approach to graphite creates portraiture and aspects of the human body which reflect self-image. By stretching what the eye can envision in negative spaces, it leaves the experimental pieces with ‘unfinished lines’ up to the viewer, inviting them to explore pareidolia and other pattern perceptions. The artist comes from the perspective of transmasculinity and queer study, and there is a vital need in creating to seek acceptance of what cannot be altered in the physical self. Elements like biological horror invoke a sense of abstract anatomical manipulation. Regarding the inspiration for the pieces, the works of Phil Tippett and H.R. Giger must be explored. Goth and metal bands like Bauhaus, Korn, Gojira, Vessel, and Larcenia Roe are also considered musical inspirations.
