The main theme of many of The Artist’s creative works are heavily inspired by Indigenous Cultures, practices, stories and experiences. It is through the use of bright colored acrylic paints and bold, black outlines that The Artist hopes to highlight the beauty of Indigenous people. One detail you may notice through many of their illustrations is the facelessness of the figures. This is an art style that The Artist has chosen to give the viewers the ability to, ‘fill in the blank,’ with their own stories and experiences with their loved ones rather than using a face only The Artist may find familiar. The Artist also takes part in creating beadwork such as earrings, a traditional art form amongst indigenous communities. It is through these artistic practices that The Artist embraces Indigenous cultures. Both have become a way of healing, expression and strength. A way to showcase to not just themselves, but to the viewers, the beauty of culture.
