Lauren Brady
Lauren Brady chooses to create work which explores themes that are close to them and many others such as memories, childhood, and the subconscious mind through expressive color palettes and linework, simple compositions and caricaturing familiar subject matter. The artist’s work is a reflection of the love they have for everything that is camp and kitsch, and the influence they draw from vintage toys, cartoons, illustrated children’s books and the many great artists of the past and present who have explored surrealism through their artwork. The artist completes most of their work using digital programs, however they also use traditional mediums like acrylic and ink, as well as more experimental mediums which include using bleach to create values on fabric. The work is intended to serve as an indulgence in the inner child, whose world revolves around limitless imagination, the desire for exploration, unapologetic naiveté and the tendency towards escapism.
