Leti’s artwork
I am Cree, Métis, and Dene, an Indigenous Salvadoran artist from Saskatchewan, exploring themes of gratitude, heritage, and skill in my art. My work reflects a deep connection to my cultural roots, both Métis and Salvadoran, and is inspired by the creativity and strength of my mother, who nurtured my artistic spirit. Through each piece, I reclaim and honor my heritage, infusing it with pride and joy.
Using digital media, sculpture, and beadwork, I express the multifaceted nature of identity and history. I find freedom in exploring new mediums, each one adding layers of understanding to my creative practice. My art captures individual stories that resonate collectively, a reflection of how our unique paths contribute to our communities.
In my workshops, I invite participants to connect with their own stories and creativity, making cultural learning accessible and personal. My art practice is a way to continue learning, to share my journey, and to inspire others to embrace their identities with pride. I approach each piece with a spirit of gratitude, creating space for heritage to thrive in the present and future.
