Leah Kind is a Chestermere based artist and is currently attending Alberta University of the Arts. She is a multi-award winner at the Chestermere Country Fair in both visual art and crochet. Not only working in the visual arts, she was chosen to perform her poetry for the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts 2023. Leah draws on her own personal experiences as well as the people around her to talk about moments of genuine human connection and give description to intricate emotions. She is currently working to create works that use her visual art in combination with her poems. Leah’s work focuses on mental health, queer history and human connection. Each medium she uses has a different style to compliment the materials. A goal of her work is to create compositions that feel as though they are moving, and convey meaning through the emotions evoked from the work. She continues to evolve her art using fibre, print media and drawing in the expanded field.
