LKind Creations
Leah is a multimedia artist and uses mixed media such as acrylic, watercolor, ink, linocut and fiber. Her work focuses on mental health, queer history and human connection. Each medium she uses has a different style to compliment the materials, and is chosen to represent the meaning of the piece. The goal of her work is to create strong emotions in the viewer. Many of her works serve as a bridge between experiences and invite viewers to feel empathy towards one another. A main theme in Leah’s work is the relationship between creation and destruction. By exploring how these two are not as opposites as they are twins she reflects on the construction and deconstruction intrinsic with everyday life, such as the frayed hem on a well loved jacket, dirt paths in the grass, scuffed shoes, and dried flowers. Her work is a reflection of the comforts of familiarity, the importance of understanding, education of queer history, and the necessity of compassion. Leah continues to push her practice by focusing on the effectiveness of imagery to convey meaning, and the power of text in art.
