Marilla by Maya has been in the works for years. I’ve been fortunate to have parents that are always supportive of my artistic dreams. Initially, I started working with beads and making earrings with bits of wire and earring hooks. That is all it took before I fell in love with creating things with my hands. Nowadays, everything I create is sterling silver and occasionally gold when I can get my hands on it. I love exploring how finishes and fine details can elevate a work of art. I am inspired to shape works that I would love to wear and that spark joy in my every day. Growing up in Maine, USA, I spent much of my childhood in the outdoors which has led me to enjoy exploring found textures in my work. Currently, I am flitting back and forth between Maine and Alberta and enjoy snowboarding in my free time to gather inspiration.
