I aim to explore the intricate and nuanced concept of conflict and the various shapes and forms it takes through contemplating animism and narrative. Through using ink, I implore its versatility to create dreamlike environments in which my subject matter resides. Once saturated with water and liquid mediums the paper is a site of vulnerability and delicacy that may only be approached with patience and care. Upon this surface using pen nibs with ink, marks are made methodically and obsessively to accumulate to the construction of animal imagery. These animals are made to reflect complicated feelings and personal history to convey what may not be verbally articulated and consider personal myth and personal motifs. Just as the past cannot be erased, neither can ink from paper. We use what we have been given to grant wisdom for the future, rather than unavailing futile attempts to alter the past.
