My name is Soup Davis and I am a second-year student who is currently undeclared as a major. I primarily work in inks and both digital and traditional printmaking. I’ve been an artist since childhood and being at AUARTS has really helped me figure out where I want to go with my art. The year 2020 was especially hard on all of us, and during that first quarantine was when I first realized I was autistic. After getting my diagnosis this year, I’ve been spending much time incorporating this hidden part of myself I didn’t realize I had into my art. Being disabled is an important factor of who I am as an artist. By bringing so many of my childhood passions and daily experiences into my art, I’m able to showcase a little bit of myself in every piece. Magic and Monsters are something especially inspiring to my practice. Much of my practice is also centered around colors, I seldom make greyscale works and when I do I find I can’t help myself with adding bright accents or backgrounds on my work.
