Soup Davis is a printmaker and artist located in Moh’kins’tsis, also known as Calgary. He is pursuing a BFA in print media at Alberta University of the Arts and will graduate in 2025. He has been featured in Alberta Printmakers, The Gallery Gaulin, The Lower Concourse Gallery, and the 13th Annual Presidents Exhibition for his vivid and macabre artworks. “I think of my work as the process of using color and form to highlight interactions and reactions as representations of physical ‘people.’ The portrait is a powerful tool of art and by creating portraits of not people but experiences, I can process them through a very physical medium. Alot of the research I do is very heavy emotionally and my art practice is a way to let out those experiences while highlighting the uncomfortable in the lens of the portrait.”
