Susan Mary Mitchell has been passionate about creating all her life. She began as a child with needle arts, and later expanded into painting, fibre arts and ceramics.
She explores these media with the wonder and curiosity of her inner child, focusing on intuitive choices as she asks herself, “What If?”
The world of nature serves as a constant inspiration to Susan, from curling leaves, textures of bark and clouds, crashing waves, and forests and mountains. Her color pallet is derived from these, as she seeks to blend color with texture in her works. She is equally fascinated with creating art in ceramics, painting and fibre and ideas cross-pollinate between these categories, as all are wonderful media to express her love of nature.
