Rowan Alejandra is an illustrator and jewelry maker in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary), Alberta. They love to create artwork, whether through digital illustration, anitmation, painting, or jewelry. The artist’s work is informed by their life experiences, serving as a method of expression of their emotions and their adoration for the dark aesthetic. All of their creations explore the human experience and form, whether through symbolism and dissecting of emotions, or through simple decorative and fun doodles. Much of their work as of late revolves around the motif of the pomegranate: how it is representative of life and moreover has to be destroyed in order to be consumed and enjoyed. Their style employs the use of dark colours to create moody artwork that falls loosely into the gothic aesthetic. Rowan’s work is influenced by their background in many different disciplines and mediums and is reflective of who they are as a queer person.
