Winter Market 2023 Artist Demo Schedule

 

Attention arts enthusiasts! Show + Sale will be hosting hosting live Art Demos during our Winter Market event on Saturday, November 18th! Come see 4 unique artists from around AUArts show off their art practices at the Demo Stage in Centerpiece Square and learn what it is like to be an emerging artist. Read on to find out more about our artists and their demos.

Intro to Beading on Felt and Edging 

with Em McLuckie, first year Design student

Saturday, November 17 10:30am-11:30am

Start off your Saturday by getting an inside look at Em McLuckie's beadwork practice. Em will show you how she does beadwork on felt with a beautiful cabochon in the centre, teaching you how she evenly distributes the beads across the piece. And to finish off Em will conclude her demo by showing you how she edges her pieces.

Creations with Clay 

with Shelley  Sabourin-Harrison, 3rd year Ceramics Major

Saturday, November 17 12:00pm-1:00pm

Have you always had an interest in ceramics? Well look no further, on Saturday you can see Shelley Sabourin-Harrison, a current ceramics major demo multiple different handbuilding techniques. Shelley will show you how to build a mug, how to build a decorative Christmas tree, and how to use a press mold. You will leave here wanting to get your hands dirty in clay!

Papermaking in Public 

with Jonathan Creese, 3rd year Fibre major

Saturday, November 17 1:30pm-2:30pm

Observe Jonathan Creese while he demos the process of papermaking. Get your hands dirty making paper from scratch and learn how Jonathan uses molds and deckles to get a single sheet of paper. You will come to appreciate the time and energy spent in the craft of papermaking. 

 

Bookbinding Basics

with Nigora Boboev, 3rd year Design student 

Saturday, November 17 3:00pm-4:00pm

Relax with Nigora Boboev as she demos Sadle Stitch a simple and fun way to bookbind. Learn how to incorporate bookbinding in your day to day lives, for school projects, making your own notebooks, or just for fun! Not only is it easy to learn, but bookbinding is an accessible craft, as you can use new or recycled material.
