Lola is a bilingual Illustration student from DJCAD, on an exchange program at AUArts. She draws inspiration through her surroundings; in particular, the experiences and creations from this past summer in Berlin. Her art centres around observing the mundane and providing small pieces of joy for people to take home with them. This makes her ambitious to learn more about selling and promoting her own work professionally.
Having picked up a recent interest in gouache painting, the artist likes to focus on simplicity, colour, and texture/pattern combinations in her current illustrations. She also has a strong interest in printmaking, specifically screenprint, lino print, and riso print. The illustrator enjoys creating mixed media artworks by combining her favourite techniques.
The artist is motivated by wanting to capture feelings of comfort and cosiness through her work. Her art is influenced by childhood movies from Studio Ghibli and more recently artists like Magali Franov, Enikő Katalin Eged, and Natalie Andrewson. Lola uses her art as a journal, a way of sharing her appreciation for the little things in life.
