Kaitlin Wright

Through watercolor, artist Kaitlin Wright explores her creative whims. Her imagination takes her back to childhood interests of antique floral kitchen wear, bouquets, forests, blooming branches, animals, and fantasy creatures. She created this body of work through the process of painting daily for a month in different mindsets, tracking her moods during various stages of each painting. She grew intrigued by the vulnerability watercolor has to offer and the ideas the process inspired. Each layer offers a distinctive look into the mindset of the artist as each work evolved. When she is frustrated and unsure, the brushstrokes are expressive and passionate, then the moments of calm and clarity show through smooth brushwork, blending, waterdrops and intricate details. This collection is an expression of the joy felt as Kaitlin interacted with the watercolor and the stories and designs that this medium inspires.
