Sasha Terway

Sasha Terway is a Calgary raised artist, having lived in the city her whole life she explores both embracing urban life as well as rejecting it. Inspired by the capabilities of the subconscious and belonging of individuals in society, Sasha’s work explores different analogies that represent identity and a sense of belonging. Themes in her work include delineating the soul through the likeness of nature and colour. Whether the style is abstraction or direct representation the intent is to evoke connection to the senses deeper than physical and speak on a more emotional level, reaching into what our spiritual connection allows us to distinguish. As a result of various approaches to style and subject matter, Sasha’s work provides an avenue for anyone to enjoy. Each piece is carefully considered in the planning process before its final form is conceived, at the will of the creative process Sasha is intuitively guided to create unique and one-of-a-kind work and considers which style best captures her intent. Her work explores the mind's ability to connect two very distant things, compare them, and bring comfort to the undefined and sometimes overwhelming power of a boundless mind. No single piece should be taken at surface value, but rather a path that starts your own individual relatedness with art.
